Just curious, does your 's' key not work?

But anyways, nice job on the carbs. I have been wanting to do something like this on my bike as well. I may have to steal your methods such as the boiling. Just saw a set of carbs on eBay for my bike. Now I just need to convince the girlfriend.

If they're the same as all the carbs I've come across that's a zinc plating with a yellow passivate (yellow is better rust protection that the BZP (bright, silver blue colour) you mostly see.
In theory you should be able to paint straight over the top for ultimate protection. Etch primer would probably work well on it I would think.

Fingers crossed we've hit the bottom of the slow down & things will start to slowly head up... I read that there has been a huge amount of liquidation of inventory globally that at some stage needs to be restocked. Here's hoping.

RenoBruce-is that all rattle can? Freaking amazing! I just beadblasted a set of carbs I rebuilt for my bike and were going to just leave them alone. You have inspired me (US) to take they GS's to the next level

Also, what is the name of the black paint with the purposed wrinkles? Very different.

Yes, it's caliper paint from a rattle can. The tops of his carbs are plastic, so I just cleaned them up and used S100 Engine Bright on them.

The stock tops are textured, Bruce just used a little S100

Dude, they almost belong in a museum! Is the S100 for metal (aluminum) tops too? Also, is S100 the manufacture, or model of paint. Thanks!

Is the S100 a real paint? I was reading about it (googled it), it doesn't say it is a paint. Is that what is creating the textured look? Sorry for all the questions. I don't want to jack mine up when I do them. Thanks!

Reno Bruce, did you use a primer/sealer for the caliper paint? thanks!

S100 isn't paint. It's kind of like Armor-all, but much better. It's made to be used on black engines to bring back the faded parts, but it works great on anything black...engines, plastic, seats, sidewalls, etc. Great stuff. His carb tops are plastic and already textured. I just made them look new.
