    haha, sorry but i had to laugh when i saw that, a lot of people do boil crabs but ive never heard of any one bead blasting them!

            Okay, now I'm intrigued. What would you do to dress up the 1150 carbs on my '86 since they're all black?

              You could add some allen head bolts. Or maybe paint/polish the tops and bowls.

              If the paint is still in good condition, try some S100 Engine Brightner on them along with the engine. It will shine up nice.

                Absolutely. To me, it seems the biggest culprit to carbs is not riding the thing. I replaced a float once on this, but otherwise I don't touch the carbs. I just ride it everyday.

                  Oh yes. I have the allen heads, but I meant what would you do to them if I sent them to you? They're currently stripped and dipped, waiting for some 122.5 mains so I can put them together with the new rubber and gaskets.

                  Would you be giving them a full glossy black treatment?

                    Since I take the rack apart to clean, mask, paint, etc., no need to put them back together. Just send all your parts and the carbs the way they are. I like to boil the parts in water to get all the residual oils off. Then prime and paint. I'll then re-assemble everything and do a bench synch on them.

                    I can paint them any way you want. If you are after the stock look, then yes, gloss black everywhere.

                        I think stock gloss would be the way I'd go. Chrome or silver just seems like it'd look out of place, don't you think?

                          I think the 1150's look best with all black carbs. If I were to ever re-do mine, I'd add the stainless or chrome allen bolts.
                          Since you already have all the parts, it would be 190.00. That's 150.00 labor, 20.00 for the paint, and 20.00 for return postage.

                            I think you're probably right. Hmmmm. I think it might be worth it alone just so I don't have to continue trying to scrub all the damned paint off the carbs. How the hell do you do that, anyway?
