      Maybe I'm being paranoid, but wouldn't the etch primer eat through any tape and then possibly ruin the inside of the carbs?

        No. If you have the etch primer so thick that it eats anything, you have bigger issues. You only need one mil to achieve the etch properties desired. That is not enough to "eat" into anything.

          It doesn't effect the tape at all. Body shops mask and use etching primer all the time. In fact, that's where I get my primer. I sell automotive and industrial spray booths.

                          Don't mean to get off track here but Bruce, I just had an idea! How about your beast like a Cooley but in Black & White?! Most are done in Blue & White or Red & White but can you picture yours as an "S" in Black & White?!!! Ray.

                                I have actually thought of doing that. But who knows? Every time I think I have a color scheme and style figured out, I change my mind!
