    foot peg/ rearset relocation for 81 1100e

i want move my footpegs back about 2 or 3 inches on my 81 gs1100e. i looked around to see if anyone had posted about getting some aftermarket rearsets. didn't find anything. i've seen some awesome mods and restos. did ya'll make your own rearsets or mod other bikes. any thoughts would be appreciated. oh and the less expensive the better too

This is an option but requires a machine shop. I used Isleoman's template to make these to basically mount any rear set at any level you wish. The ones you see below are from a Kawasaki ZX12R. Mine are not drilled for the sets in this pic.

Where can I get such a template?

I had them made, if you would like a set I can get a set for about $125. The shop I used has them on file. You will also need to order hardware to mount the plate and have them drilled with heli-coils to mount the sets securely.

If you make them in steel, although a little heavier you would be able to simply thread the holes...

Good point Dan, I used alluminum in order to reduce weight on the build. Heli-coil inserts would not be neccessary if fabbed out of steal.

I'd need a set for a 650 though, would it be the same, or different? Would they also be smaller and/or cheaper?

Almost certainly different. No smaller or cheaper, maybe more expensive as they'd have to program the CNC & you'd have to work out your own template.... Just my 2p from my experience of course, I don't know the specifics of what these guys did.

                        J,

It took me a minute to remember what the two small pieces were (they are the spacers for the back rear of the shifter plate)

Did you weld the spacer to the plate like I did or do you just stack them together and bolt them in place?

I kinda figured you would show up in this thread I have them stacked for now but my intent is to have them welded. I think I finally got the gauge bracket worked out, between work and the accident havnt had much time to work on the bikes, but the 1100 will start coming together here shortly.

                            Real Nice.........

                            All about fabrication.

Sometimes this is part of building the bike.

                            RAASK doesn't make anything?

I like the Old School stuff, but if it is simply not made by anyone, design and make one's own.
