Fairing question for GK owners
I don't want to reinvent the wheel so I thought I'd post a question re: the GK fairing. Has anyone been successful in eliminating the noise from the compartment lids? I reduced it by stuffing some closed cell foam between the panel and the inner metal piece but have yet to completely eliminate it. I was thinking of attaching some lead foam sound deadener to the underside of the lid but thought I'd ask on here first. Great fairing except for the buzz.
Willie in TNCommon sense has become so uncommon that I consider it a super power.
Present Stable includes:
'74 GT750 Resto-mod I've owned since '79
'83 GS1100E (The best E I've ever enjoyed, Joe Nardy's former bike)

My fairing buzzed like crazy! The best way to eliminate the buzz is to eliminate engine vibration. I know from my experience I de-carbed the cylinders, adjusted the valves, and cleaned and synced the carbs. Syncing the carbs made the biggest difference. I now have much less vibration in the bars and less noise in the fairing. I can hear the radio again. I wonder if removing the fairing and installing a thin sheet of rubber between the mounts and fairing would work to isolate the vibrations. Just an idea. The fairing is only held on by four studs located behind the lower fairing panels.
