    sourcing valve cover bolts

I need new valve cover bolts for my '80 GS850, some of mine are rusted and need to be replaced. Does the bolt kit at Z1 include valve cover? http://www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=1100

    is there a better source?

    Thanks,
    Z

Yes, that kit should have the valve cover screws.

Hey there Big Z, i got all my bolts for both my builds from Burk at west coast MC. He does really good work, and all the bolts are polished too.

I think Z1 might be selling his bolts....??

Maybe he's selling Z1 bolts under a partnership? I got a set of carb bolts, but they had a Z1 label on the bag.

Yes, my local hardware store has the metric bolts(10mm head and 6mm thread?...bring an old good one to match up) for less than a dollar each. If you don't like the silver color, then just stick them in an old pizza box and spray paint the heads w/hi temp black paint. Coat the threads with a little grease before reinstalling and don't let 10 yrs or 10k miles go without checking your valves again....and I think the kit you posted is the allen bolt kit for all SIDE covers?....AND don't overtighten them! 2 fingers and your thumb on a short ratchet is plenty and tighten them down evenly!!

            Burk drop ships for Z1.

              Not true

Feb 2009 we bought out Burk aka westcoasstmc.com. As part of the purchase agreement, Burk was to continue selling bolts and we were to provide him bolts in a dropship arrangement.

However, it appears Burk is out of business. He has not sent us any orders for 6 weeks (nor has he paid us for bolt kits shipped to customers since March), he's receiving numerous complaints on other forums (kzrider, SOHC4s) about non-shipment of his recent orders.

While you can find some of the stainless steel bolts at fastener stores, we source smooth headed bolts, and then polish them for 2-4 days in tumblers. Additionally, we custom order some of the hard to find lengths, and even purchased a special machine to cutoff bolts to make lengths that are unobtainable.

Over the next few months, we will be adding more fastener options - including JIS pan-head bolts - the correct head for restoration projects.

It was obvious that Z1 was selling the same kits as Burk's, and one time when I ordered the bolts through Z1 they were drop shipped from somewhere since they did not come with my other Z1 ordered parts. At any rate, sounds like Burk has gone dead beat. Sucks for you guys that are owed money.

When I ordered, I didn't get a response for 4 days, and he emailed me from a new address, letting me know that he completed a shop move, and was backed up. Sent me the bolts after that. But that was a month or two ago, dunno if he finally went missing.

                      Yes...

This situation doesn't make a ton of sense. Burk has lost a low cost revenue stream (essentially all profit) - he would make money on every bolt sale and not really incur any expense except for some web hosting. All customers paid up front, so he should have been in good shape.
