    project for the week...

Long story short, picked up a 78 750 with a big touring fairing, s&w air shocks and some other stuff like floorboards....that all got thrown out the window...haha

As a result of throwing the floorboards out the window, I had nothing for my feet to rest on. here's what I'm makin to solve that while I wait for parts from dynatek to make sure this baby runs...

    more to come...

shifter and linkage are now operable...shift lever is cobby, forgive the hammer marks and marks from the vise jaw...the only bending tools I have are a torch, a vise and a hammer...haha

to give you the big picture...it's rough

p.s. the big nut in the first picture by the bottom mount is just there for a spacer, I need to pick up some fasteners of the correct length...

Nice work, but if you're anywhere near my weight - don't stand on them.

Really though, I fabed some rearsets from aluminum plate and they had more material than yours and I swear I could feel them flex when I stood up.

How far did you throw the shocks out the window?

If they are still in reach, I might be interested.

I have to agree with Red, my rearsets are made with 1/4" plate and still flex under my weight.

It's a great design, it just needs heavier material.

Steve, they're within reach...I could climb out there and find em in the bushes for ya...but really, they're in the shop, I was gonna e-bay em. They're goofy things with air fittings, the PO had wired up some lil air compressor with a switch on the bars and a pressure gauge...I can send you some pictures...PM me your e-mail...

As far as strength goes, I had to put all my weight on one peg and lighly bounce to get any noticeable flex at all, albeit I weigh 165. I've seen plenty of dirt track bikes with 1/4" aluminum plate for footpeg brackets.

165 - good for you and no wonder. As I said earlier, they do look good.

All my dirt bikes have the pegs very rigidly mounted to the frames - even the newer ones with aluminum frames. Get out on a trail 20 miles from base and loose a peg on a rock and it ain't going to be any fun getting back - lots of butt ridding. Those guys must be track riders.

Yeah, by dirt track I meant tt/short track/mile kinda dirt track. I'm not gonna be riding this thing on any goat trails or hitting doubles so I think I should be fine. And about the 165, im only 21....life is good haha

I knocked 12 of the 36 spokes out on the front hub once. Luckily I was only 2 miles in.

                    Keep the pics comin!

Is that shift linkage a hiem joint? And if it is, could you tell me where
you purchased it from. The reason I ask is I'd like to replace the flimsy
                      stock one on my ZRX.

                      Thanks

You can get them from www.summitracing.com pretty cheaply.

I bet summit's heims are sweet, these ones were like 2 bux at OSH, but they're standard thread. I like to keep metric bikes metric, but I don't even know if this thing runs yet so I'm just workin with what I've got layin around. You can usually find a race shop of some sort for real nice ones with kevlar lining and other stuff, sometimes they last longer, other times not...

You should see some of the heims that most of the Bronco guys use to make their tracbars for their solid axle swap. They're almost bigger than your hand!

What are the floorboards like? GK type or ??? I keep thinking I'd like to try something a little bulkier than stock on my 850.
