    GS1000 tail trim..?

Anyone know where a person might find the chrome molding that goes around the back opening of a GS tail piece? I've searched eBay, the parts for sale forum, and gone to Suzuki, to no avail. It looks good without it, but I'd just as soon replace it with a nice new/used one if possible. Thanks.

I know a guy that sells the self adhesive chrome detail strip that you knock over a lip and it snaps in place. I'm thinking about putting some around the seam on my 650 tank, i'll be going to see him a week this Saturday. When i get some, i'll try a bit on my 1000 tailpiece and if it makes the corners ok, i'll let you have some. I'll keep you posted on this, if you get sorted in the meantime, that's ace, it'll be a hard one to find i think as most bikes (especially parts bikes) have been repainted by now and "lost" the original strip.

I have one off of a '79 gs850--not perfect [slight crack inside both corners] but very usable--if this will fit let me know and it's your's for the shipping cost!

Wow! What an incredibly generous offer. Thank you very much. I've sent you a PM with all my info. This is the reason I come to this site. Amazingly accommodating people sharing the same passion for these bikes.

You didn't mention what favour of GS1000 you had. It matters as the trim for the G model is different than for the E. The G has squarer corners. The E ones are scarce as hens teeth but you occasionally come across ones for the G. Good Luck.

Ahh..didn't know that. Thanks for the tip. It's a '79 GS1000S model. Hopefully I've been taken care of, but I'll still have an eye out for a new one someday.
