    lower bars for 1978 GS1000

I recently bought a 1978 GS1000 and want to put superbike style lower bars on it. Does anyone know the correct clutch and throttle cable part numbers to use? Cani use the GS1000S parts or are the ends possibly different to attach to the carbs? Thank you.

www.alpha-sports.com will have the parts # you are looking for.
I recently put S throttle cables on my '78 GS1000. A very tight fit as far as the length is concerned. I should have slightly lower bars.

      GS1000 shorter cables

Thanks Steve, did you use the 1979 'S' part numbers? any chance you can tell me how much rise you have so i use shorter bars?

I put super bike bars on my S and the stock cables work great. I made the mistake of thinking the cables for all the GS1000 models for that year are the same..duh..no. The S cables are four and a half inches shorter.

I have used Euro & Superbike. Stock clutch cable is a little tight but it does work. S clutch cable is better.

You can stick with stock throttle cable (I have on both my bikes) with no problems.

Superbike bend bars are similar to the S bars. Having the proper length cables makes the routing cleaner without all the excessive length creating possible binding.
