I 2nd TCK's advice. I left the signals off my GS while in CA thinking handsignals would suffice. I gotted pulled over and cited by a CHP for removing them. Wouldn't accept my explanation and use of hand signals.

Common sense has become so uncommon that I consider it a super power.

    Present Stable includes:
    '74 GT750 Resto-mod I've owned since '79
    '83 GS1100E (The best E I've ever enjoyed, Joe Nardy's former bike)
    '82 GS1100G Resto project

Thanks for the insight. I'll check the rules. So far I've been able to get away with four of my bikes sans turn signals and haven't gotten bothered, but, like you say, you never know..

That is a beautiful machine. The engine doesn't even look real, it's so pristine. Don't know if I'd dare ride it.

NVR2OLD how are you liking those Conti Blitz tires? I'm running them on both my '78 and wes cooley. I've been very happy with them so far.

They came highly recommended, but I haven't had a chance to try them out yet. I'm impatiently waiting for a new front master cylinder rebuild kit that should be here this week before I take off on it. I sure like the rounded profile. They look like slicks that have been siped. I've always used Metzeler and Michelin tires in the past, but these were a little less expensive and I'm anxious to give em a shot.

                Beautiful, just beautiful.

I don't think there is one thing I would change.
                Super tasteful.

                Congrats on something special.

did you paint the engine yourself? I'm looking to paint mine black as well. Any tips?

                  Thanks

No, that's the way they were from the factory. Funny, when I first masked off the fender and side covers to paint the stripes, I had to stop, because I almost laid it out as you described. After checking some factory correct pictures, sure enough, that's the way Suzuki did them. The way it is, the blue sort of "frames" the white.

Yes, I painted the engine. It was a lot easier to paint out of the frame, too. I've done them in the frame but it's a little more difficult. Prep is everything. Clean it to surgical standards, sand everything you can reach with 320 or 400 grit wet and dry, spray a light coat of primer, then go to town with the black. I used DupliColor engine enamel, but I'm starting to really like the VHT brand spray paints, too.

Those Fast from the Past rearsets are works of beauty. Do they fold up / where's the kickstart?

I love those rear sets. I was ambivalent about spending the money, but not only are they beautiful pieces like you mentioned, but they bolted right on and work perfectly. Absolutely sano installation. They do fold up. You can order them either way, though. This year GS doesn't have a kickstart. Electric only.

Beautiful job! I hope that mine turns out half as nice.
It has been in pieces since '92 but I now have a renewed interest in it.

You are much to humble. The bike is beautiful. I must say it looks perfect.

I am the one who should be humble. Do you mind if I print a picture and erect a shrine and worship it?

Where did you get those rear sets?
