I took some pics today with the the wifes' camera on different settings. I'm not sure if the resolution improved or not so I'll just post the pic, then redo if necessary.
For some reason the resolution isn't improving. I thought I changed the camera settings, but nothing is different. I'm tired of messing around with this camera, it's not user friendly. The tank is shiney all over and it's hard to tell from this pic what color it really is. I'll post some pics later as I progress but I have lots more to do today to this bike and I'm ready to throw the camera out the window, so it's best to give it back to her.Last edited by Guest; 07-12-2009, 11:23 AM.

Photobucket or whatever photo hosting service you are using may be truncating the photos do a smaller size. Looks great from what I can see. Keep up the good work.Ed

I applied the decals to the tail and front fender yesterday. Today I shoot them with the final coats of clear and then apply the decals to the tank, fairing, and side covers, then tomorrow I'll clear them. The reason I'm doing this in 2 parts is I wanted to put the smallest decals on first as a test to see if any bubbles formed and the second reason is that I found it tough to spray a large number of parts in the confines of the garage. This way I can spread them out more and have more control over the process.
I see we caught one of the dogs tennis balls (I needed to qualify that) in the picture.

Very nice!
The tennis ball gives it some scale. Couldn't tell if the fender and tail were 4ft, 2ft, or these were miniture scale without it.

Well, I have all the decals on now. I'm not real pleased with how the large ones went on. It's very hard to lay then down without air bubbles or water trapped somewhere, and if you pin prick them to let the trapped stuff out you can see the hole - barely but you can. Don't even try to lift the decal as it will distort and you're going to have a disaster. That happened to one corner on the side panels.
My advise to anyone doing a restoration on this model is to PAINT the red, cut the red from the decal, and then lay it down as a pin stripe. It was painted from the factory and I guess I know why now.
I'm a perfectionist and when something like this happens it bums me out. Oh, well, I'll clear it tomorrow and off it goes.

I checked the decals out today and they all look pretty good except the one I tried to lift (stupid mistake). It's not really that bad, but I don't like goobers.
I'm not going to clear over that side panel. I'll order another decal and replace it later. If I clear it, then it's going to be impossible to repair unless I strip it down to plastic. There's already 2 coats of clear on it so it will be fine for a few weeks.
