Here's the thing though....who even cares about the potential value to Tom, Dick & Harry....you have built/modded the bike for you to enjoy riding & looking at....I doubt you would part with it for even 5-6 large? Mine has nowhere near that amount of work/effort in it, but I know I'd have no problem turning down an offer of even twice that....simply not for sale.

Mysuzyq is right. The monetary value is not the issue. That bike will get more looks in 1 block than any Tupperware sportbike will get in it's entire lifetime. Beautiful work, you should be proud.

It really does look great, Steve. The gold wheels are a real nice touch. Lots of really nice components, too. It's always nice to think the time and effort will also pay back in higher value. Who knows. It can't help but be worth more, but it's the sence of the accomplishment that holds the value, eh?1979 GS1000S,

To be honest your best bet would be to hire nvr2old. I was using a crappy compressor and that caused all kinda of problems. I am a newbie but I can safely say 2 tone painting takes longer than most people would think. BTW, which one are you painting, 1100ES?Last edited by srsupertrap; 08-14-2009, 11:09 AM.Steve

I like it and, what's waaaay more important, you should too. One to be proud of.
Reminds me of the '77 Triumph Bonneville Queen's Silver Jubilee version we had here (link to pic below). Only yours is better.
Only thing I'd change is find matching bar end weights

Tony.
You are right, I probably will never sell that GS ever and if I could wheel it in the house during the winter months I would. BTW I bought that Walmart fan for this project and was such a POS the pic shows it's final resting place!

I painted those wheels with VHT SP-182 Gold when I first saw the Suzuki GS550ES /16" front wheel. That paint held up well considering 40K later. I repainted the rear last year and found the stuff has been discontuined. I had no idea the Aussie GS1000S had gold wheels till I ran across this site. I believe I have to debling a couple of items: lose the yellow spark wires for Black or Blue wires (Anyone want to trade for like new Accell 8.8's ?). Use hampshirehog suggestion on the bar end weights and perhaps black oil cooler linesLast edited by srsupertrap; 08-14-2009, 11:54 AM.Steve

I agree about the bar ends, (which could be painted) and the colors on the wiring and hoses. Having them all black would look better in my opinion, too. Might be something to check out here. Cheap, and attractive.

On another note, perhaps we can do a Fall group ride with those other proverbial GSer's tinkerers Tkent02 & GSghost1. They have got a couple of GS1000's too
Yea, we've got a big state. The final 15 miles to my place is some really sweet canyon roads, so if you ever want to come down let me know. I have plenty of room to stay and this is a perfect jumping off place for some of the best road trips in Colorado.
Oh, and if you want to ride trails, I have a buddy bike. 2 really, but 1 needs about a days woirth of work right now.
