77 750 inspired by Confederate Hellcat???

I have had my bike for sale here since I couldn't get the title for it. Well, I FINALLY got the title for it and will be building it over the winter. My question is: Has anyone seen a GS converted into a confederate styled bike? I have ridden my bosses hellcat and I love the look and feel of his bike, but I'm not a fan of the v twin. I have an idea of what I want it to look like, but I was looking for some pics of similar builds for some inspiration. Thanks

Somehow, "Confederate-style" brings pictures to my mind of Gray uniforms in the mid-1800s.
Absolutely nothing to do with motorcycles.

I just did a Google search for "Confederate-style motorcycle" and got some interesting bikes.
A GS could probably be forced into service in a bike like that, but to prevent incurring the wrath of many of the 'purists' on the board, pick on one that is beyond basic resurrection into a decent street machine.

I assure you, while this bike is a complete bike, it is hardly worth trying to put back to 1977 specs. I aim to add a 05 gsxr swingarm, inverted forks, cut the rear sub frame off and fab up a solo seat on a monoshock. I plan to make the bike unique, light and fast... All the things a STOCK 1977 gs 750 isn't ! ! This is not to **** off the purists, as I do love the bike as it is, I just want something more personalized.

You're going to have a REALLY hard time stuffing a gixxer swinger in that frame.

Should be an interesting project, make sure you gusset the frame to help stiffen it up if you plan on "going fast"

When ya get it done, give me a shout, we'll go for a ride, and I will show you exactly how "not fast" a stock GS750 can be...

I've got the arm. I am trying to get some 17mm ID 20mm OD spacers made so I can dry fit the arm... As for gusseting the frame, I plan to do that for sure. TKC... I'm sure they were no slouch in stock form, but imagine what it would feel like with the same engine moving 100 less lbs. I will be looking to you for some carb help here in the near future if you don't mind. I also have a line on a 01 gsxr 1000 w/ bad motor for wheels, rear sets, complete front end, and brakes. Should be a fun project...

Not mine. The friend that helped build my bobber is building it. It does have a bit much rake on the front as it tends to flop. It is a xs1100 yamaha. He kind of put it to the side till he can rebuild the front end with less rake. Also the monoshock is off just a bit as it is too soft so a littlle re engineering in in order. Have you seen confederates lastest bike?? check this mad dog out

IMO if you don't have the money now then there is a good chance that you will never finish. You will end up with a non-running engine in a mutilated frame. Or you will try to cut corners to save money and end up with a bike that is only 1/4 as nice as the one you started with.

Do what you want but take the time to save and plan it out properly.

Interesting take on building. I've never had the money to finish a peoject when i started it, but never left a project ufinished. If everybody had that same idea, no one would ever restore, customize bikes, cars. We would just go buy new ones or ride ugly peices of junk.

Well... I don't have the money to do this build all at once, but then again I don't have the time either... With that being said, should I wait to retire to build it that way I have the time to dedicate to it nonstop? I will be tearing it down for swingarm mockup, frame mods, and engine paint. If anyone wants some of these OEM parts, I will be selling them off to fund the project. Spoke wheels are mint, front end is straight but the tubes have some surface rust on them, swingarm is in good shape, seat pan is in great shape, foam is bad cover is gone. PM for details...

ATB, my boss has one of 3 prototype hell cats. S&S destroked 133ci 137hp (at the tire) marzucci forks, marchessini wheels, brembo full floater brakes, carbon fiber tank and fenders. That is by far and away the baddest bike I have ever ridden. Ever since, I have wanted one. BUT the whole money thing comes back into play. He recently sold it to a friend and bought a "Big Dog"... What a step down. Its a nice bike and all, but no confederate.
