    Some Sprucing This Evening

Did some painting this evening. Since I now have a tank on the way I figured I'd go ahead and prep, prime, and paint the fenders and ended up pianting the front forks as well.

And the rear one (don't mind the Harley tail lights, they were free and the bike didn't have any when I got it).

And the bikes current "not as sorry as before" state.

What do you guys think about painting the wheels gold?

They would look much better in black.

Wheel color depends on what color you're planning on painting the bodywork. I wouldn't go with gold unless you're going with a deep, bright red. Bronze on the other hand will give you a few options in my opinion. Black, red, white, and silver all look nice with bronze wheels.

I guess a bronze would be closer to what I'm thinking of, not a bright gold by any means. I've always thought that black and a darker tone of gold go well together.

Tanks should be in soon and then all I really need is a battery and an R/R from Duane and I can finally get this thing registered!

My KZ750 had gold wheels from the factory. The finish always looked dirty, very hard to clean. I had the wheels powder coated black and it looks 100% better. I wanted an all black bike. The only other color on the bike is the chrome on the brake rotors and the faded gold color on the engine cases.

Well I've been recieving parts and doing some more to the bike, painting the frame and engine (engine with high-temp paint). I used a razor blade and removed all the random layers of paint and filth from the chrome vents on the head and the stator cover and points P/U cover. Got my grips and installed them, got my R/R today from Duane and installed it and now I have spark again! I'm just waiting on the tank and gas cap and I still have to get an oil filter and a new air filter. Can't believe that I got spark off the 50+ year old spark plugs that I found laying around the garage!

My horn...1 out of the 2 horn drivers from an old Ford truck, I think the low driver. My buddy and I had it on a golf cart that we drove around the backroads here from about 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. with a headlight on it, but we took it off due to the temptation to wake people up, lol.

Covers aren't perfect, but they look better. I want to replace them with non-dented factory ones later, but they'll do for now.

And I got my handgrips on:

Thinking of paint the wheels this color now since I still have enough left over from painting the differential covers on the trucks new axles.

It's a copper hammertone. Whatever color the wheels end up being, I think that I want to paint the indented triangles and small ribes on the spokes black to have some contrast. I still have yet to get picks of what the bike looked like when I shut the door to the garage about 30 minutes ago. Looks sooooo much better then when I dropped it (almost literally!) off the back of my truck earlier this past summer.

I would paint the wheels that color, and while painting the front "rim" of the lights that color as well. Then paint the rest of the housing black. But thats just me

Yeah, that color was the bronze type of color I was talking about. I think it will look great. Maybe leave the lips of the wheels silver and polish them out a bit. You could also leave the edges of the "spokes" in the wheels polished for a bit of contrast as well.

The edges are what I was thinking about painting black. I think it'll give off a sharp contrast. Probably going to hold off on painting the wheels until I get new tires though so I can get my stuff done to the truck before winter hits full force.

I like it. I also like the Harley indicators. I have the same indicators on my 750 - they have a nice shape.

Mine came with the bike along with some homemade mounting brackets that my brother and my uncle made when my bro still had the bike. Just going to use Optitronics automotive marker lights for the front signals since they are cheap and will still look good.

Got my one front turn signal on (store only had one at the moment), and I got my tank and my master cylinder so now they are on as well. Tank still needs acid washed inside and sealed and painted on the outside but it sits on the bike!

                              Pics soon.
