The tubes for the hardtail are meeting up with one of the weakest parts of the stock frame & there's a hell of a lot of force going to be generated there, this is why on most hardtails the tubes would normally meet the stock frame in the strongest point IE under the tank, you need to spread the load

This next bit is just personal preferance, but for the sake of bending 2 more tubes i'd bin the swingarm & drop new tubes in from the main frame back to the wheel ajusters i'd also join them with a nice curved tube around 6" from the rear both sides

Sorry if some of that sounds cocky or wrong its just a personal opinion gained from doing a similar job a few hundred times

not cocky at all man, any input is greatly appreciated! like i said, everything will be beefed up well, this is my 3rd "dropseat" style chop, i never had any problems with the others, rode one to sturgis from missouri (ouch)

i will post progress pictures as i get there.

    thanks for you input everyone!

What kind of tube bender did you buy? I would very strongly suggest a tube bending program called Bend Tech. I have Bend tech Pro, and trust me, it will save you money and time from messing up bends. It is really cheap ($$) for what it is. You can easily design any tubing project in the program. It will then tell you step by step how to cut, bend, AND notch each tube. check it out, http://www.2020softwaresolutions.com/
I've used it for motorcycle projects, roll cages, swingarms, etc etc...

What kinda seat you gonna use? Makin it or buying it? With that kinda suspension, you should go with a tooled leather over a steel seat pan. I got a nice looking seat for $100 on feebay. I think the companies name was B.Y.O.B. Getcha bender yet?

seat will most likely be made from just a bent up piece of diamond plate

for some reason in the pics it doesn't look even, and looks like its mounted crooked... don't know why.... its perfectly symmetrical and mounted straight... must be camera angle

I have to assume you've sat on it with the seat pan. How close does it come to hitting the tire with weight on it?

Like the seat suspension, but the seat looks funky with the back of it squared off. Id use a different seat myself, but its yours dude. You liked it enough to post it, leave it on there!

Pic of a seat I made, just to show ya the difference Im talkin about.
