Sounds awesome! Even for a vid clip.

Be sure to keep your dress tie tucked in around those flatsides with the stacks while it's running. Sounds like it would suck you right through and spit you out the exhaust pipe.

If today was my last day, hell, I'd have been content.

This isn't the first start but it ran just as good then as it does in this clip (the 5th start). Cams have been broken in at about 2200rpm for 10 minutes. No strange noises coming from the engine, just that lovely flatslide sound. .
Congrats, that sounds great! I was patiently waiting to hear your bike fire up all these weeks, to pull the trigger on one of those cans (finally have a line on getting a midpipe custom bent). Those Keihin flats seem to be a bit louder than the Mikuni RS.....or maybe amplified due to the enclosed space in the garage.

        You should hear it live.

I'll probably have some better (outdoors) clips in a week or two.

As for the flatslides - actually, it's not that bad. The exhaust on the other had. My god, the gases literally shoot out of it. Nothing like what it was before.

I was waiting as well. It's been hanging on the wall since forever doing nothing but... hanging there. I can guarantee you that it has a proper "GP" sound.

And right you are about the carbs. The RS' don't make half this noise.

Brought the bike out from the garage today to do some work on it in the nice weather.

My brother played the role as pitgirl splendidly.

Far from perfect but it's getting there.

Out hunting for some different jets and needles now. Hopefully that will sort the current issues. Runs perfectly on idle to 1/4 throttle openings but 2/4 to wide open it puffs out black smoke and soots the spark plugs in an instant.

This can either be fixed with a different needle or a smaller main jet (already running the largest air jet so I can't put in a bigger one).

Hopefully I'll have it sorted out soon enough.

I'm almost starting to think it's too loud. Rev it up a bit and you have to cover your ears.

Because I couldn't find a radial master cylinder for the front brakes in time for the trackday that's after next weekend (the 24th to the 27th). The standard MC with the built in fluid reservoir is too big to fit on the Laverda bars so I had to compromise.

Rest assured though, I'll put on the Laverda bars once I get hold of a new MC.

Seems like I haven't reported any results from the testrides I've been on. Well, it's getting there.

The plugs look really nice, just needs some fine tuning to get the carbs running perfectly.

As for the rest of the bike? Hell, it couldn't be better.

Pulls away like crazy now when you start getting the revs over 6000 rpm (where it started losing power before) and it feel so stable you wouldn't believe it. I'm normally a chicken when it comes to high speeds and cornering but with the bike as it is now, it feels like I could outrun Rossi. Even managed to lift the front wheel off the ground. Felt awesome to know there's so much power in it now compared to befoe.

No funny vibrations or anything in the frame or handlebars.

Compared to my dads modern Yamaha, the difference in handling, feel and power is marginal. It's amazing what a bit of work can do to an old skunk.

Off to Finland for a 4-day track weekend on Sunday so then I'll have all the time in the world to rest and tune the bike properly. When I'm back from that and have gotten next months salary, it's time for a Dyno run. I'm expecting good figures.

I'll try and get some pictures up of the bike when I'm back from Finland.

Back from Finland and four days of racing on the track.

Had a blast and the bike was amazing.

It almost sounds docile. Until the right grip gets twisted.

Yeah, we had a blast. Amazing flow in the track and lots of high speed corners. Once you had gotten your pace up, horns started growing out of your head.

Shot by the guy I went to the track with. He crashed his Triumph 675 on wednesday in a high speed right hander (about 70-80mph) so he spent the rest of the week taking photos.

Here's a shot taken by me of the guy who's the hope for winning the Rookie 1000-series here in Sweden this year.

                              Awesome guy and awesome rider.

Actually, it sounds like crap in that clip compared to what it does now. Runs so nice after the final adjustments. The cams are quite hot so anything below 4-5000rpm is a bit rough and lumpy, but above that - wow.

When you rev it up to the red line in 3rd gear, the inlet noise sounds like a jet plane. It's freaking amazing.

                              Exactly.

Only trouble I had with the bike this week was the exhaust. The rivets in the can cracked the carbon fiber so the end baffle came loose (well, not by itself, I ripped it loose). Gonna get that stainless steel one I originally ordered for free as compensation.

I don't think this will be a problem for everyone though since I was riding the bike quite hard (never used 4th gear on the track).

                                Any paint yet?

So I have been keeping up with this thread fairly regularly. I love what you've done, its a sweet bike. What going on in the paint department? Or are you simply riding it too much to take the time to put some color on there. If so I think that's perfectly fine and I wont hold it against you.
