I uploaded a bunch of pics at photo bucket but now not sure how much resolution those will have.
Bills has about 3-4 coats of clear but no RUNS

Here are the ones for the GS750. It now has about 7-8 coats total but spraying in the colder weather (60 vz. the normal 85 deg) I got some runs even though it looks very wet. I need to work on them after it hardens a bit more.

I went on one ride with Bill after his accident and rode the GS750. It was leaking quite a bit of oil so I ended up pulling the motor for a refresh which is something I had planned for some time. Now that I wrecked the ED, I had to do it to make more room before tearing down the ED .
I used the engine stand that I made. Not the best welding job but it sure makes working on the engine easier.
The engine ran well, despite it's 60K something miles. The PO had been into it but other than a clutch I was not sure what. I also had a spare parts bike that had some nice engine parts. So I'm swapping out some of those as listed below
Plans are to pull engine and:
- Cleaned most of the gunk to respray it with some Por-15 paint
- New OEM STD Rings (old ones measured out 0.,012" end gap)
- New OEM Head and Base Gasket
- New Viticon Valve Stem Seals
- Lapped valves
- Have nice set of GS1100E cams (15K miles and almost no wear)
- Nice set of GS750 82 Followers from Toto (Thanks they are nice)
- Plan on degreeing the cams
- Will bump the jetting up a bit as it is stock at the moment
- Split the cases to alleviate any oil leaks
- Putting a low mileage Transmission from the 80 GS750
- Putting a low mileage Clutch from the 80 GS750
- Cleaned carbon from the pistons and cleaned ring groves
- Buffed the pins and made sure they float nicely
- Changing out all of the bottom end rubber /seals with OEM

Engine has been pulled and is on the stand.
Draining out all of the oil.
Pulling off the top end after a wash down.
flip motor over for the cases to get split
Bearings look decent
Tranny looks good but I have a spare with clutch

Went through the head to replace the guide seals and lap the valves. Most of the work is cleaning up the old carbon.
valve spring compressor worked like a charm. Just needed to clean blocks of wood to make it a one man operation.
Make sure you use a little grease when you assemble the keepers; makes it so much easier.
Head is nice an fresh; I use a hammer and socket to bounce the retainer a little to make sure the keeper doesn't fall out and it is secure. Head is also flat could not get a 0.005" feeler under a straight edge.

Did you check the rod bearings? They go first before the mains. My 750 mains looked better, but the rod bearings werent as good. I ended up just replacing the rod bearings.
