    Polishing Chrome

I've been polishing the chrome on my gs750 with a bench grinder and buffing compound. The pieces have been turning out very nice, but I was wondering about protecting the metal. It looks like there's some kind of laquer on the metal. As I buff it, the laquer comes off. Should I be putting something back on the metal? If so, what should I use? Thanks.

    Mark,

If you are polishing the chrome and removing laquer, you are more than likley polishing aluminum. Once your aluminum is polished you can protect it with a good aluminum polish like "Mothers". Apply this a couple times a summer. If you choose to you can spray a clear coat over the freshly polished metal and then you won't have to use the aluminum polish.

Thanks. You're right, it's aluminum, not chrome. I'll get some Mother's and put it on. Thanks again.
