Hi everyone! I havn't posted in ages it seems; however I finally have an update on my semi-race, stripped 78 GS1000. Here are some pics and build details. I started about a year ago ,and this is my final round of mods. I still have a ways to go with the little details. Sorry I never really did multiple pics on one page before so bear with me.

Frame: GS1100 swinger, shortend a$$, frame bracing that is mainly for looks, and a gloss black powder coat.

Brakes: 2 pot ninja brake mod w/ EBC rotors, SS lines, GS1K EC front disc on rear. and 90s Katana master.

Suspension: Works rear shocks set up for my weight, Fork brace, Race tech springs in front stock tubes.

Other mods: Veypor tach speedo unit w/ oil temp sensor to oil pan, all new wiring, batt in tail, regulator up front on back off speedo. hombuilt speedo/tach housing+rear inner fender+ Frt sprocket gaurd, aluminum rear sprocket stock ratio. rear shocks are .5" taller then stock, bikes rolls on 78 e model flat black spokes.

    90% certain Estimated

Im starting it for the first time tommarrow! Im crossing my fingers I did every thing right on my first motor rebuild ever. Definatly dont want an oil leak on my uncured paint.

Great looking Bike...like the wheels...mind explaining the painting process on the rims? I know chrome is tough to paint and keep durability...again great job!

                      Its alive!!!

Im happy to say it fired up on the second starter burst. Runs excellent and I havnt even synced the carbs yet!! Sounds great, revs up fast and mean!! And....No visable oil leaks!! Just a very slow drip from the oil drain plug due to a crappy gasket. easy fix. garage now smells like hot paint.

Very sweet machine, looks absolutely amazing. The gauge looks like it was made to fit right there. Great work.

                          wheels

The spokes were powder coated black. which sucks in a way because I didnt dissassemble them first. So if i try to tighten them the coating will probably crack. Good news is they were good to begin with. Ill just get them recoated if they become loose. They have seen 120mph with no issues...on a track i think...

                              update!

I actually drove the bike last weekend! Its not really ready yet but I couldnt help it! It idled great, then stumbled and choked...then baaam! it violentley leaped foward in a rush. Acceleration is better than I imagined. Im very happy with the results. Remember this is with out a carb sync and no jet fine tuning. I also had some problems...after running it; the clutch (EBC) started dragging. It was dragging bad enoungh to bog my starter motor on an attempted restart and I drained my batt. I am now waiting for some good stock used friction plates to hopfully solve the issue. The EBC/ninja mod brake setup feels AMAZING! The pads are even short changing the disc by about 25% They could bite more disc if designed a little different. however it now only takes one finger to stop and I dont see how I could get these to fade. Plus they arernt even beded in yet; I only drove about a mile!! You could easily get away with just one disc. If anyone has some good used plates they want to sell pm me. thanks.
