    Anybody ever install Pro-grips ???

I bought a set of pro grips for my 81 GS550L. After taking a peek at the throttle side I realized that the factory grip kind of presses over the flange that is on the throttle tube. It looks like if I remove the factory grips and install the pro grips that it will butt up against the flange but wont look as clean. Anybody done this that can share some ideas?

cut / file / grind off the bit on the tube. that way they'll fit fine

I have a set of red Pro-Grips...once the grips were on didnt even see that small space between the grip and the control...and it provided a perfect place for a vista cruise.

If you do that, make sure the outside end of the grip butts up against the plastic sleeve and NOT the kill switch housing. Sticky throttles are bad news

I just slid it along the throttle till it was flush. The space did not bother me, but I never knew the stock ones went over that plastic. The bike had ugly foam on it when I purchased it.

GTGS, here are a couple photos. I filed down the sharp lip on the throttle tube. As Cliphead mentioned be careful on how close to the housing you get with the grip. If you have the bar ends they can also restrict the throttle from closing.

I am new here...hello!!! I personally would just paint it black. Oh yeah..a good way to remove grips that I have found. Stick a screw driver between the bar and grip then spray with WD40 and twist it off. To install, spray with WD40, push it on and let it dry.

Use your air compressor. Stick your little air nozzle/blower under the edge of the grip and blast it. It will fly off! No need to pry on anything

I recently bought a '78 GS1000 and noticed the grips and throttle tube was shorter than on my Kawasaki. I have a longer set that I would like to put on the GS. How can i go about doing that? Thanks for any info.
