Maybe to hang out the laundry? Or stick a flag on. There's no wire attached to it, so I can't use it for a radio.

            Where can I find one?

I have one of those backrests with the fold down rack too. Been watching for a topcase that will open like that.

Can you share details of "make, model, source, vintage, etc"?

Found it on ebay by "Wildfire Motorsports". I'll get you the link later. Can't do it here at work.

They do have another model that comes in black (and the blue that was also missing).

That one hinges at the front, and I get the feeling that's not what you are looking for.

Yeah, that's right. I was going by memory, which is never very accurate.

That's right... if the seam is at the midpoint and opens up like a clam shell, hinged in the front, the backrest interferes with it. Most of the topboxes are designed to attach to a rear rack without the backrest (notice I never say sissy bar )

I think an old Vetter unit might work. I kinda like these old UJM's fully dressed but I'm not too keen on the look with just the Vetter box alone.

The rack that I and ddaniels have is different than most in that the rack adjusts up and down where most have a backrest that's adjustable back and forth.

You meant to say the rack folds up against the back of the backrest if you want it out of the way right? Mine's not adjustable any other way as far as I know.
