        Here's my bars......

Got it running okay now, but Im still having problems with the Idle every once in a while, and my clutch cable is really sticking out and annoying me!

Has anybody been successful in finding shorter cables?

So I finally received my new superbike bars and installed them.
They are 4" rise, 4" sweep.

It moves my riding position forward and down noticeably, but not to any great extent compared to the stock 650G bars which IIRC are about a 6" rise, 4-5" sweep.

I have yet to try them on the road, but they feel pretty good sitting on the bike.

Hope this helps in the decision making.

I recently had to order some parts for a bike and wanted to try different handlebars for my 650g. Couldn't decide which to buy so I ended up buying both superbike and daytona touring from Z1, roughly $14 a piece.

In the cool spring and fall, I put on my large windshield (Slipstream Insterstate I think) and I find the stock bars were about perfect, nice comfy upright position.

Since it heated up quickly in late May, pull the shield and have noticed my bars are just not right, find that I am pulling back on bars to overcome wind. Not real comfortable on longer, high speed jaunts.

Received bars on Thursday and decided Daytona's have about an inch less rise than stock and slightly less bend than stock G bars. The Superbike bars have even less rise and similar bend than Daytona's. I proceeded to remove stock bars and simply place bars in holders and checked out feel. Realy liked the look of the superbike, but finally decided the Daytona's might be better fit first.

After a couple spirited short rides, I think the Daytona is about perfect. The bars get me into enough lean that I don't that I am pulling myself forward by the bars. Likewise they aren't so different that the bike feels totally strange.

After a month, I may go to the superbikes just to see how they are, but right now I can say that Daytona's are really quite impressive, well worth the price. As a bonus, I could simply tuck in the excess cables, they aren't too bunch up to change their action.

Thanks Octain, she's been a lot of work so far, with more on the way.

Hard to slip something by you! The headlight set up is currently under construction. I need to fab up a mount for the dual projectors, then the make the front fairing. I am detailing it in my 650 thread in the projects/rebuilds section.

i can add a little to this. i have a set of superbike cheapos on my B12, and as it is the daily driver it sees rain and weather a lot. the cheapos want to rust/stain rather quickly.
ok for my 78 gs and things that are indoors a lot but i will get some of the good ones for the bandit.
it was still good as i wanted to make sure i like that bend and did so for a few bucks, now i will get that same bar w/ better plating and such for the weather.
                      cheers, ride hard and often!

I enjoy the stock bars. Seems like they nailed it for 5'11 people. I have ape-like arms too. It's more like using them instead of holding on to them.

Just installed the superbike bars on GS650. Ordered from motorcycle superstore for around $20, and while they're a bit narrower than I thought they'd be the handling of bike is much improved. The slight lean forward is a lot better riding into the wind. So far, I love em.

I just got clubman bars for my GS750. When I got the bike it had Answer bars on it. Only problem I have is that my bike has an aftermarket air fork kit. So my new clubmans don't clear the tall fork bolts

I decided to finally pull the trigger on a clubman swap from my stock 850G bars. I am a little concerned with the cable length going from the tall "prancing pony bars" to the much lower ones.

Would it be a wise investment to switch to shorter length cables, from say a Katana or something similar? I have read up about rerouting but I am worried that the existing cables might simply be too long. Thoughts?

Edit: I looked up replacement cables on Z1. Can someone who's done a similar swap measure the lengths of the clutch and throttle cables for me?
