Cafe Racer build

Good Evening y'all,
I'm here in Houston for the summer, so I decided to build a GS cafe racer. Here's where we are as of today.

It's a cbr900rr frontend. I feel almost guilty that it's not a gsxr front end. Tomorrow the motor is getting detailed.

I'll be posting some update pics during the week. Enjoy.

You're right there. I line producer low budget films, budgets around 1 million or below. Fun stuff, usually.

The yamaha virago is a pretty decent cafe mod. I just chopped one a few weeks ago.

hi if you go to the xs650 club site and then click on holland and germany they are nutters about cafe xs650 bikes especially with the alloy W italian rims and spokes... they come up smick.. regards david

Here's my engine looking all pretty.

Anyone have any tips for easily getting this beast back in the frame without scratching anything?

Lay the engine on some blankets on the right hand side and lower the frame over the engine .

I like your style. Let's give this a go. If I can pick up an Ultra Classic, I can pick up a 750

It's easier with the the wheels off (only 'cause it's lighter) . I've got a '79 GS1000S and I had to take the breather cover bizzo off the valve cover to get that little bit of clearance . A couple of free beers for your mate that's giving you a hand will go a long way as well .

After taking the valve cover off, only half the gasket was still attached.

I ran to The Zone to pick up some gasket material. I am about to attempt to cut out my own valve cover gasket. Wish me luck.

I will probably end up doing that if I can't get mine to the correct specs. As for Why?

Why not? We do everything else for the bikes, why not try this too?

The engine is back in the frame and the carbs are cleaned, jetted, and painted to match. Only a few more days till I crank her up.
