Here's another idea:

Get the daytonas, if you don't like them I will buy them from you, plus shipping to me. All you will be out is the cost of shipping from bikemaster to you.
I need several sets of lower than stock bars anyway.

I feel the same. Maybe Im just too used to sports bikes...But I think I need lower, nearly straight bars. And I think they might look better too.

Most people including myself seem to end up with either the Superbike or Daytona bars on their ride. If you go much lower such as a drag or flat bar you may have clearance issues with the tank. Clubmans sit farther forward so that's usually not an issue but unless you're young and flexible your back might hate you for it.

Defiantly your back will hate you and your arms and your nuts. I have a set on my 750. Only so I can keep the Rickman fairing on.

I am using Daytona Bars on my 550 and they work very well and seem to compliment the overall look very well, too.

Replaced mine last fall. Found them on E-Bay from a vendor in (I think) New York who specialises in bars and carries them in every style you can imagine. I think I remember paying about $20 (plus S&L, of course) for a set of black, standard touring bars. He has good info on rise, pull-back and comparisons on different styles, shapes, dimensions, etc. I can try to find his info if you are interested.

When I did mine, I also picked up a pair of risers that basically gave me an extra inch of rise and about the same in pull-back. HUGE difference in how upright it made me on the bike. Very comfortable. Did mirror extenders / risers as well. The view rear-ward is completely unobstructed by my shoulders. By the way, mine is an 83 GS1100.

One word of caution: if you change bars or add risers, your brake line especially and your clutch cable impose limits on how much you can rise / pull back before you will need to replace those as well.

What did you put on yours?

Going by the pic it looks like I have Daytonas already on my bike....They look the same size/angle etc.

But I think I will go for drag or clubman type, my only concern with the cafe style is the handling and the riding position, though I only plan to use the bike the odd day as a hobby, I have a car now to use for work.

I went with the General Purpose Touring. With the risers I am at the limits of what the stock front brake line can handle. I am almost upright in the saddle when I ride, which is what I had aimed for.

The drag bars should work fine with no mods needed, since the rise and pull-back are less than the stock GP Touring bar. However, you will be MUCH less upright with them. Over any distance you would likely find it literally a pain in the neck (and back).

I remembered the vendor on Ebay I bought them from. Look up Sportingforless under E-bay stores. He has good info on how to measure your existing bars for width, centre width, rise, and pull-back. You can figure out from there which may work without having to replace your brake lines, etc.

Are you going full Cafe Racer on that bike? Bar-end mirrors, etc.?

Im not sure if I will go total cafe with this bike...The only thing I dont like the look and feel of is the bars, so something like the ones below might fix that

i got drag bars they look like the last pic on this page. they come in 3 diffent degree bends (not sure on the degree's) i went with the middle degree bends will post a pic when i get one. the only thing i would add is like a 1inch or 2 risers

You put them on at the wrenching party at Redneck's, right? I don't recall seeing a post about them.

I've got an 550M I'm thinking of putting clubmans on.

Yea after the stainless steel lines in the front I swapped my bars for the Daytonas. I like them a lot, didnt have stock "L" bars on at the time. Only issue is they are a bit skinnier than what I had and makes the mirrors not as useful. Still see my elbows a bit to much... but the lines worked okay without any major changes.
