any info on flat metal side covers?

I know I saw the fiberglass one somebody made on cliffs site but Ive seen a few bikes with just flat metal pieces as side covers and was interested to see if anybody could get me a close up pic and some info on doing that as a temp fix on my bike

Flat metal Engine side covers or flat metal Bike side covers...I made mine from aluminum for the bike and diamond plate for the engine..

I would be interested in this as well. Would it be possible to make the side covers out of steel or aluminium and still have them wrap around on the front side to protect the electronics from weather? I have wondered about this for awhile but never asked.....

Believe it or not 18 guage Stainless Steel is very easy to dish/form (what ever terminally you perfer) and all you really need is an old stump and s good heavy steel edge one that is rounded a bit so it doesn't crease the metal. How do I know...look at my avatar. I built that helmet and it is 14 guage stainless. Also did an almost complete set of armor. I have also been contemplating it. I just have not looked around for a flat steel source yet. My $.02.
