    Seat doesn't quite fit

    Hi All

I'm not all that happy with my seat. It doesn't sit right. It kind of sits too high, to far back, yet also to far forward.....Doesn't really make sense so I have a feeling it is not the right seat for my bike. The front of the seat is pulled away from the tank, but the rear of the seat does not fit flush with the rear or the bike. I think if the seat sat lower it would all fit a lot better.

To get it to fit even remotely right I have had to drill our the holes for the mounting of the bracket on the underside of the seat that locks into the seat release, just to get it into the right sort of position.

Probably no real outcome to be gained from posting this, but does anyone have any ideas? I will try and get some pics up tomorrow.

If you post a picture you would more than likely get a better answer as to what the issue might be.

Hmmm... the front and rear simply look like the seat cover was made a bit too small or stretched a bit too much when it was installed (that appears to be an aftermarket or custom seat cover). The vinyl is too tight and is warping the foam and base a bit. Not really a big deal.

But since you had to significantly modify the position of the locking plate to get it to fit at all, it sounds like it's the wrong seat for the bike.

I'd say just keep riding it, but keep your eyes open for the correct seat. It sometimes takes a while -- seats are very model-specific, and often quite rare.

Another possibility is that it's a complete aftermarket seat. These often don't fit quite right out of the box.

Also, in order for anyone to ID the seat, we'll need photos of the underside and of the entire seat from the top and side.

Does it by any chance have a part number anywhere visible?

Just wondering if it does if you can compare it to the parts fiche on www.alphasports.com, that would certainly tell you if it's right or not.

You could also then do a search on the part number at www.bikebandit.com to see what it's supposed to fit...
