    GS450 seat options

I've got a 450T that I need to find a better seat for. It's the standard that I've seen on a lot of them that is okay for shorter rides but I'm looking for more of a saddle type that would be easier on me for the longer runs. I've seen some 450L's that looked like more of a saddle and wondered if they would bolt on. Mine has tabs from the seat pan that the turn signal bolts go through to hold it in back.

Hope this helps you. Here is my seat. It's from a 1980 GS450L.

Turn signals and sissy bar mount on a bolt that goes through these 2 tabs.

The front mount looks like this.

And it slides right through the frame rail behind the gas tank.

Full view of the under side.

I'm wondering if your seat is similar to the one I have. Does it have the same mounts? This seat isn't really my style and I might just buy a "T" seat like yours... Wanna trade my seat for yours?

Thanks but I plan to keep the original, just looking for something more comfortable. I'd like to sell this bike in a year or so and move up to an 850 so I want to be able to have all original parts. Just checking ebay now and by the looks of the pricing I might put up with what I have!

I searched eBay and found this 1981 GS450T seat.

Based on the pictures, they look almost the same as my seat. I'm gonna get one of those later on.

Did you cut those seat tabs in the back out? Mine are not open at the bottom, but that seem like a good idea if it holds it solid. Would be so much easier to get seat off bike. terrylee

                I've got a near-mint 450L seat that I'm trying to sell.

I didn't cut them out. That's how I got it. But yeah, seat stays in place very well and it's not hard to take the seat off. I like it!
