Lots of used parts: Rack, trunk, and bike

I've been collecting parts here and elsewhere to achieve a fairing and trunk for my newly acquired 1000G. I got the fairing and bags/trunk from a Wing, and recently got a rack from one of our members here. This post is mostly about the trunk/appearance, but also has some electrical stuff in it, so I put it in this section.

I got the rack installed yesterday & today. I refinished the pitted chrome with some black Rustoleum. I had to shorten the legs and re-drill the holes where it mounts to the shock. I made a couple of aluminum mounts to attach the trunk, and it came out really well for the fit. While I was at it, I added one of those wig wag devices for the brake lights, and the bulbs are the 30 LED ones from superbright LED. I also replaced the connector under the rear panel with a 4 cavity Weatherpack one for reliability and to run the wires for the trunk.

Here are some pics and a link to a really short video:

I still have to put some wire loom around the wires where they go up to the trunk & also do some sealing for the trunk, but it was a good two day job.

Looks nice. I know you said you'll put some loom around the wiring but were you going to reroute them as well to keep them out of the way?

Yes- it will tuck under the rack & I can zip tie it there. I ran out of the loom size I need when I was running power & ground wires to the fairing.
