    Match silver case

Wondering if anyone has found and High Temp paint that matches the silver of the engine case? I have a few spots that need touchup.

There are lots of engine paint threads in the archives. You might want to give the Advanced Search feature a whirl to see what you can shake out. If you come up with a good match please post back, I've yet to find one that's dead on.

Try Advanced Search, and then select Titles Only - search on " engine paint". There are dozens of threads just waiting for you to find them.

KG Gunkote silver or brushed stainless will do the trick. Both are very close to each other but will gove you a different shade, slightly.

            Silver Paint

Ace Hardware sells aluminum colored heat resistant paint. I've used it before on a Honda CB750K and had no problems. I'm not sure how the longevity was as I got rid of the bike after a few months.

A while back there is a very long thread on the subject of engine paint, as I recall, SteveA managed to find a PJ1 product which was called Yamaha case silver, and it was as close to the factory finish as you are ever going to find, unfortunately some of the images are no longer there.
              here is the thread http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...d.php?t=135476

                Krylon

I painted the sidecovers on my GS850 today with some Krylon semi-dull aluminum paint #1403 and it was nearly a perfect match. Its not an engine paint but it is lacquer. I'll see how it holds up.

Best part is that I bought 6 cans of this color, 4 cans of clear , and 6 cans of black on closeout at a local Ace hardware for 50 cents a can. I've had it in the basement for a couple years and figured I would find a use for it someday.
