    Grab Rail Trim Grommet Alternative

    Hey fellas,

Found a nice basic solution at the local Ace hardware, after I lost one of the two already-dry-rotted grab rail trim grommets.

Turns out a bib seat washer is shaped just right to mate with a trim washer and both fit nice & snug over the flange. Check out the picture link to see how they go together.

I feel a little silly that I didn't write down the sizes for you guys, but I have to go back - see next paragraph.

The bonus is that these rubber washers also fit real snug over the rear mounting posts, so I'm going back to get another pair (I'll note the sizes and post again when I do). There's no flange on the rear posts, so I'll skip the trim washer, since there's nothing to hold it in place, but that rubber washer fits snug enough to stay in place and cover the gap in the vinyl.

It'll be about $2.50 in parts all told, a modest savings over the $3.85 apiece plus shipping of the oem ones. Plus, I'll have a trim piece for the rear posts, which you can't buy oem.

nice fix, that's ingenuity for ya. This one should be added to the tips and tricks.
