    Is this an American Speedometer?

I just bought a second '83 GS750E and the speedometer cluster is different from my other '83 GS750. There are mph over top of km/hr.

I think it is since the format is like many of our car ones (in the speedometer side)

That's what I thought. So the mileage would probably be in miles and not kilometers.

Yep. Should turn out okay but you'll have to do the mental calculations everytime you talk about it.

Good score...mileage appears to be very low, whichever way you slice it.

If you are really fussed about it put the KM speedo in the new bikes pod.
Funny story,a while ago I had a US Fiero. My girlfriend at the time was driving. She says"I can't get used to these KM speedo's".I quietly say "It's miles per hour".The car very quickly slowed down.

I had a similar story. I bought a 96 Kat 600 about 9 years ago. I picked up out of town and drove it home. My dad was following behind as he drove me up to get the bike.

Anyways, I kept passing vehicles and after a while I could not see my father in my review. So, I pulled over and waited for ten minutes-it was crazy. I wonder had happened as my dad is not the slowest nor the fastest drive.

Anyways, He got out the car when he caught up yelling, 'what the hell do you think you are doing? How fast are you going?'

I just looked at him and said what is your problem I am only doing 120 and 140 when passing. That's when we decided to look at the speedo. Yap, it was an American bike.

I never even thought of looking at that when I bought the bike. I should have returned to the dealer but did not.

I have an 84 pop up Katana with the km/hr speedo. Driving it in the states is a constant mental conversion game. Wonder if I could use that as a defense? Prolly not too effectively as 100 KM's is about 62 MPH.
