    My 85 GS450L so far.....

Ok so since I've obtained this bike I finally got the tags, insurance & gave one good night of cleaning it up a bit. Got rid of most the minor rust pits & shined it up a tad bit. Did a real in depth go over of brakes, chain, carb etc etc. & I came to the conclusion its good to go for some road miles to get the parts/pieces movin about a bit.

So not to over do it as it has been sitting for the winter & has'nt really been ridden more than 5 miles in the past 2yrs Heres what I have done today myself in an hour or less just puttin round town a bit.

Heres the result of the minor cleaning I gave it for the time being, Ill be a bit more thorough as time goes by.

    And the other side.

So thats how the beginning stages of my 1st year & 1st bike are going thus far & I must say the time I spent out today w/ a friend of mine ridin was like a HUGE weight lifted off my shoulders & all my problems disappeared if only temporarily. Why O why did I wait so long in life to pursue this passion/hobby?

Congratulations, it is a wonderful feeling to be out there riding in the wind. My tid bit of advice has come down to this. IF the bike is up and running and things are good other than cosmetics ride, ride, ride. I you decide you want to make some kind of project out of it, buy another running bike. You will continuously kick yourself when (not if) you find that you don't have the time to work on it and riding season comes by and you can't get out there and ride because your bike is spread between two sets of shelves and two different towns, getting all it needs done before you can put it back together. Not that I am speaking from experience. As my thread indicates....ho hum. Congrats and have fun riding.

Thank you, So far as I know this bike is'nt in need of any immediate service, work or anything. As I said (So far as " I " know.) It runs famously, no spits, sputters or anything of the sort, 2,655 original miles on it. So its only need is to be broken in & im happy to do so.
