I had everything set up to get my OEM seat recovered, but the upholsterer pointed out some very thin spots on the seat pan...I don't want to spend the $200 on getting it recovered, just for the seat pan to rot out in a year.

I need a new seat pan, can someone point me in the direction to get one?

Use glass cloth and resin. If you take your time you'll get great results. I used this method to repair the floor in an old boat I used to own. I tried to get some marine grade plywood but it was ridiculously expensive.

Using fibreglass to thicken up the pan is a pretty common trick and works well. As you suggest, sandblast it first to get rid of any lingering rust.79 GS1000S
