+2 on it doesn't need to be a small twin. They are just typical... back in the day 500cc thumpers were very common. I originally cafe'd my '69 BSA Lightening back in '81 with clubmans, no fenders, a homeade bumstop seat and a knee-dent Firebird tank when no-one was doing it... recently did a '72 CB350Four.
Clubmans will do the look (and authentic) if clip-ons are impractical.
Agreed rear sets are definately worth the time, even if you just adapt the controls to utilize the passengers pegs.
redplastic... What makes you think it's because of your Bike?

Regardless of how it started, the end result of your mod's are awesome!

appreciate it....i really have no idea what it started life as...i think it was a 78 e model...but still.. it was cheap, and in pretty bad shape... but on the plus side of things...im well under 1k for the budget, and that includes the initial cost of the bike

Hey different strokes for different folks, this place is full of cafes, bobbers, boobers and some I am not sure, so you fit right in.
Personally I am not into the whole cafe thing, and would never build myself one, probably because I don't have an artistic bone in my body, hell even my stick man looks like he has some debilitating disease.
But I do understand them and where they come from, and regardless of the project, I am the first to admire good quality workmanship and ingenuity, and that is what you are show casing after all.
Good build, I am enjoying it thouroughly.

Built for British roads to race from pub to pub. We have Harleys over here for that, but they look cool (Cafe Racers). Wouldn't want to ride any distance on one.Last edited by OldVet66; 06-12-2011, 02:15 PM.http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ine=1440711157'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.

Nice looking bike, sounds good too. If that question was directed at me, 850 combat, it is a stock '78 seat as far as I know. It is starting to come apart and needs to be replaced.http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...ine=1440711157'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.
