I've put GS1000 spoked wheels on my bike. The only difference is they have aluminum rims. I bought the wheels without discs, so I put the single disc on the front, which is what my bike came with. 8)

      Finally some progress

Here is my new set of spoked wheels including the sprocket carrier and very good bearings in them delivered to my door for $55, good guy that Marcovandervelde \/ The front brake discs are from a batch of parts I bought for $100 and are also in very good condition. Tonight if I can find the time I wil do some measuring and fitting of axles and spacers...

If that goes well the next step is goodbye 18 and 19" and hello wide aluminium 17"rims =P~ probably 3,5 front and 5,5 rear but better do some big saving in the meantime

And yes it's in the nature of Dutch people to do everything as cheap as possible that's how we invented copperwire, there were two Dutchies pulling at one nickel

Mark can't you get slotted disks like I have on them?

Now doesn't the rightside eye of the centerstand look like a very good mounting point for a brake anchor?

You may also need a different axle spacer on the chain side. On my GS1000 the spoked wheels use a slightly different spacer to the cast wheels, don't know whether the Kat is the same.

Mine are of another Kat 1100 and fit perfectly on the 750 wheels, '80 onwards 1000's had them also and I think Nick mentioned that they interchange with the '80+ 850G and 1100G also.

I have another rear disc and brake anchor to mess around with coming in from Germany if everything is okay.

Did a little reasearch, front axle is 15mm, speedo drive from a modern GS500E with 17" front wheel is also 15mm Trying to find a cheap one now and see if 1. the width is the same, 2. the connection to the wheel is the same and 3. the connection to the cable is the same. It sucks that I don't have a scrapyard with some '90's bikes in my area to compare stuff.

Front hub off the GS750 is exactly the same as predicted but there will have to be some work done to get a 120/70/17 tire on a 3,5" rim in there...fork brace under the fender has to go and replaced with one on top of the fender. If the stock fender is kept it must be lowered and the radius changed for the best result, I have a spare Katana fender for this purpose.

Rear wheel mounted using this set of spacers from another Katana 1100.

The spacer most to the right was wider them my original, 17mm instead if 13mm but the GS750 rear hub was narrower too by 6mm on one side, brake disc centers nicely, still have to check the chain line though but that will get spaced out anyway when the wider rim/tire combo comes on.

I wanted to keep the stock rear brake when I started this but that is not going to happen with that rim size :? I will go on the hunt for a underslung GSX600F caliper like mentioned in several other wider tire threads on a later date.

Rims are painted and and off to the wheel guy for some nice new spokes and rims. I am happy and unpatient right now...it will be about 10 days.

I put a slotted disc from a Katana on the aluminum rimmed rear wheel I got from a 2 valve 1000. It was a simple bolt-on. I can't tell you exactly what Katana it was, as it just had "Katana" written on it with a paint pen from the salvage shop I got it from. 8)
