Any tips on repairing a crack in the shield? the fairing is virtually identical to the 1000S model with a few exceptions of course. I was just hoping to find some advice before I start messing with it.

First thing to do is to drill a 1/16" hole at the end of the crack to keep it from spreading.

No I haven't checked with any shops yet. I usually come to the 'collective hive' first before I wander on my own. I'll see what I can find around town on my days off.Rob

plenty of info in the windjammer thread on that as well. Andre bent hism own for the windjammer. The one on a Cooley is way thinner but im would think its the same pricipals that apply.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Solvent Welding
Ive done this several times on various car / truck bug deflectors. Not a real option on airplane windows. They usually have to be replaced. You might have to weld on a backer piece of plastic to make it stronger. It aint never gonna look as good as new.

If there is a local "plastics" retailer or distributer near you they will have some special glues that will likely work.As you are likely aware not all plastics are the same. Having said that, super glue is likely your best/cheapest option.
While it doesn't apply in this case, the ABS slurry mentioned is phenomenal for repairing cracked or broken plastic body pieces. Easy to make and use.
