ss steel bolts( gs 750 1977)

Hey I have bought the ss steel bolts from z1 entreprise I have pretty much installed all of them( right and left covers) except three bolts that are stripped, but this is not the problem.

The issue is I am left with several bolts and I dont know where they are supposed to go and It freaks me a little because I dont want to forget any old bolts
can someone help me out please?

Cam cover are higher grade bolts , not safe to replace them with ss bolts

Nothing special about those cam cover bolts - it's the cam CAP bolts that have the higher rating. That's where they belong then.

Oh, and don't forget the copperslip on all those bolts.

hampshirehog can you show me a picture of the cam cover because I am not sure if we are talking about the same thing (I am not 100% bilingual)

and for the copperslip , you mean anti seize with copper? if yes i used it on every bolt I installed

The cam cover is that top cover on your engine - sits horizontally on top of the cylinder head. AKA rocker cover. If you haven't checked your valve clearances now may be time to do it (essential maintenance).

Good job on the anti-seize - we know it informally in the UK as copperslip (now defunct brand name).

so apart from the top cover no one thinks there another place where these bolts are supposed to go??

Breather cover (separate 'part' of the cam cover), starter motor cover and may be the 2 'outrigger' bolts on the cylinder head (2 M6 bolts on the LH and RH side of the head). Maybe also the cam chain tensioner. Don't be tempted to replace the cam chain guide bolts - undo the existing bolt and the guide on the back of the head will fall in to the bowels of the engine.

Three of the bolts are for the small cover on the sprocket cover that you remove to adjust the clutch pushrod. If you remove this cover there are two sprocket cover bolts underneath it. Twelve are for the mentioned valve cover. Four are for the breather cover that is on top of the valve cover.
