    Throttle cable length

Clubman bars make my cable too long*

Z1/Motion Pro have a few other cables that would work.

According to Z1 the standard replacement for my 1978 GS750 has a 39" internal cable.

Some here have recommended using the GS1000 cable as a replacement. That cable is 43."

So I went to measure my existing cables, and they look to be about 43-45" It was hard to get a good measurement along the twists, etc., but it was way more than 39" for certain.

I think that some PO used a GS1000 cable (unless I am looking at the wrong year). Ed gave good advice on measuring for a custom cable. Before I drop $50-75 on that, I wanted to see if $30 in Z1 replacements might work.

Has anyone here found a good measurement for clubman bars on this bike? Will the standard 39" work? Any tips on routing either length?

I looked at other threads on this, but only found a few posts about the cable routing, nothing with explicit length guidance.

    TIA

Throttle cables for a stock GS1000S are shorter than the standard length. You might try those.

Your 750 should have the VM carbs with the push and pull cables. That means the cables you want would be from the '79 GS1000S. They are about 4 1/2" shorter than the stock GS1000 cables and work great with the superbike bars, should also work with your clubmans.

If your not sure what length will work you could mock up a cable with some fuel line or an extension cord.
