Original Vinyl Seat Repair
Does anyone know of someone who can repair an original seat. Overall my seat is in good shape, it has a tear in the center and a couple minor issues on the side.

Trying to fix some cracks in the vinyl of your ST seat? If so, I don't think there is anything you can do that won't show. The vinyl gets hard and then cracks between the stiched diamond pattern. Both of the S's I had did the same thing.Ed

Hi Vmass, Once these seats start to split they will continue.A stop gap measure I've tried is a liquid stitch. You apply it in liquid form and it hardens. It is clear but you definitely know its there.Got mine from JC Whitney. Craft stores or Auto parts may have some.
I thought Pit Replica made a Cooley seat cover.http://i632.photobucket.com/albums/u...00080021-1.jpg

Anyone use PIT? Good stuff or just OK?

My original seat split in booth sides on the top along the pattern, and i was able to sew it together with some tough black thread and a needle. It helped that it was a hot day and i did it on the sun,so the vinyl was really soft.It came out really nice, of course from close you can tell but from a distance not visible. And so far it is holding well,i did it a few months back.It beats replacing it,since i really can't find anything compareable to the original.I'll try to post some pics later when i get home from work..cheersCurrent bikes: '83 GPZ 750(shipped to Europe)and The one and only '81 GS 1000G,BOM 2/11.

The ST seat and cover is unique. PITT's application for the ST includes other models and years so I'll bet they don't have the real ST pattern available.Ed

I sent them an email requesting a picture of the actual cover, I don't hold out a lot of hope I will receive it!

I will let you know if they produce an actual picture.

If they do not have your exact seat, you can send your cover to them and they will make a duplicate of it. Mine was free, btw, because they are now selling duplicates of my original seat. It looks just like the original, I could not be more pleased. I got rid of my Corbin when I received (and installed) the Pit Replica cover.

I had a local shop make a cover for my ST and they did a great job replicating the stitched Suzuki pattern. The only thing that's not perfect is the vinyl material they used is a little thin. If I were to do it again I'd look for some marine vinyl and take it to the upholstery shop for them to use.Ed
