    Peeling paint

So the edge of my gas cap cover has peeled up some. I think that the clear coat on the tank kinda pooled in the indent and was rubbing the paint just enough to peel it like this, especially because I flattened out the tab where it mounts to the tank to make it more flush, bad idea . Any suggestions on how to repair it? I really don't want to repaint the whole cover. I am going to sand down the clear in the indent and bend the tab back so this doesn't happen again. Thanks folks.

You might try sanding down the 1/4" area where the paint is peeled back and just mask off that area to repaint. Outline the area with masking tape first before you sand it to protect the stripes. There will be a tape line there, but it won't be too noticeable.
