83 katana 1100 fairings on a 83 750 ES?
Hi, I owned a 1983 GS 550 ES back in 1990 and now am buying a 1983 750, but it has a couple of issues"- stator and a cracked/ broken fairing. I plan on repairing the fairing but if it turns out crappy I may be buying a new one. My question is: 1) would the fairing from the 1982-83 GSX 1100 katana fit on the 750 ES (I can buy a replica at airtech which manufactures replicas) and 2) would it be inappropriate to make it look like an 1100 katana, and 3) are there differences that determine the katana classification as opposed to a GS... (the S" in 750 ES indicates sport or katana)Tags: None

Hi,
Sounds like a neat idea, but you'd need to obtain a GSX 1100 fairing stay (or frame) to secure the cowling to the support frame. The trick will be - does the Katana cowling support frame line up to your ES frame to secure that to the bike? Not sure I've ever heard of that, so can't help you specifically. Try going to the on-line microfiche available at any on line Suzuki OEM parts web site and check out the two cowling stays - check out the mounting points of the cowling frame to the bike frame - see if it is close and worth the risk. Good luck!Scott

With enough money and determination, you can make anything fit onto anything, they sent people to the moon for goodness sake.
I see no wrong in fitting it, if it is what you like, I would.
