    1980 GS1000E and a Cooley ?

Other than the fairing, does anyone know all the differences between an E and a Cooley ?

IIRC the E has a 17'rear wheel and the Cooley has a 18.The 18' had better tire selection back in the day.The side cover has no holes in it for the emblems. The 80 had shorter L style mufflers.

          S parts info...?

Speaking of S model handlebars... does anyone know specs on these, like rise/height and pullback (or is it 'rake'?) measurements? Would like to find a chrome one.

Also, any idea if the S headlight bucket is common in other models? Saw an '82 850G bucket on CL nearby for cheap. It's very similar to this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/78-Su...ht_1812wt_1036

Thanks for any info... Sorry about hijacking this thread.

            Hey Frank,

The Bikemaster "Superbike" bend is similar, if not identical. As for the bucket, that G bucket is very similar. There may be different cut outs on the bottom but from the top I think it would be hard to tell any difference.

Thanks for info, Ed. If I can't locate original S bars (within next 10 years ), will go with Bikemaster.

I'll ask the seller if 850 bucket is 7" across... wire cutout does look similar, and recess has notch to clear gauge cluster.

*Oh, and to un-hijack this thread: S models weigh additional 10+/- lbs... thanks to the "bikini" fairing. Wire loom different, too.
