    Tank fit front.

Got another tank for my bike. Same year and model.

It doesn't fit. The front is too narrow for the frame cups. Needs about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch more width.

Trying to get it spread with some wood wedges. Any other ideas on how to widen the gap?

You are trying to mount an L tank on an E frame?

Nope. Double checked the tank. It is from a 77 750 E.

Looks like I'd be home free if the cups were just a little wider.

        Hi,

Is this the tank you banged the knee indents inn? I read in a thread here that this makes the gap for the toptube smaller, apparently you need to wedge some wood in there before you bang.

Maybe you can bang it back out...

Will a scissor jack fit in there?

It is the knee dent tank. Strange that hammering the back would close the front.

Can't get a hammer into the gap. It's also too narrow for any of my spreaders - speed clamps reversed.

You can make a spreader out of a nut and bolt, a couple of bits of wood and a socket or something similar. Wind the nut full on the bolt and put the bolt thorugh the socket (ratchet side) wind the nut down the thread holding the bolt with a spanner and it'll work like a jack. Fattest nut and bolt that will fit makes things easiest.
