Rust on chrome pipe
I tried a search but didn't really help, I have chrome four into one vance and hines side pipe? and where the four meet ,I have rust and it's hard to get to it any suggestions . Don't want to buy new pipe until I get every other detail worked out. The po said the pipe was only couple of years old and last one he had was same pipe and lasted for ever, he thought they were making them cheaper than they used to??Tags: None

Naval Jelly is good stuff, put it on and work it every so often with a brush,
keep an eye on it, it takes some time to work, but it does work, rinses off with water. I wouldn't let it sit overnight though.sigpic

There is no chrome in that area where they come together. Even if you remove the rust, they will just rust again. I'd just leave it alone. If you insist, I'd try some oxalic acid mixed with water. Wood bleach typically has oxalic acid it in. Won't hurt the chrome either.Ed

Auto paint stores sell rust mort, I used it in a spray bottle , soaked everything down well, let it sit for several hours, then used a gun cleaning nylon brush and dish soap to clean out any excess.
I did it to prep for ceramic coating, but never got around to it (ran out of money). Even so, it has not re rusted yet.

Spray paint over the rust, problem solved.
Just set a shop towel Over the pipe and go nuts.
Or you can just keep watching it rust more and more...lol
