I am the proud new owner of an 81' gs 650gl. I have most of the parts that i need for my project figured out. the tank i have is garbage, it is dented, rusted, and jb welded together. I want to replace it with a tank with the knee indents on it. Just wondering if you gurus could tell me what years and models would fit my bike with as modification as possible?

Check Ebay for tanks but be careful as many folks don't know what they are selling. As far as the knee indents, most folks here are making it themselves.Cowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace

Can't imagine why you would want to make a tank that was already too small even smaller, but the tanks that will fit your bike with the least modification are other 650GL tanks, and they were only available from '81-'83.
