Well I found a few of the superhawk gauges on ebay but way to expensive for a used part. I like the speedo tach combo gauges and thinking about going with something like this http://www.autometer.com/cat_gaugede...id=3704&sid=16

Just for grins once, I tried a Cateye speedo (made for a bicycle) on my Honda 550. It, too, had a magnetic pickup on the front wheel, and was pretty accurate, until it got up to about 70mph..then it's little brain would freak out....then it would recover when it slowed down. It only lasted about a month before it was toast, but was a fun (inexpensive) experiment while it lasted.

A good bike computer (not the $19 ones you get at Target) will work fine on a motorcycle, but they usually don't have a backlight. That's why I found the Vapor to be such a good deal. It has a good backlight, along with computer functions and a tach, and it is weather- and shock-resistant.
I also like the Mike's XS analog gauges, which fit the stock GS speedo and tach cables and have lights.

BINGO BINGO BINGO. That is the one I want. Acewell ACE-3962. I found it on the acewell site for $125, but only found it on one other site and they did not list a price so I will have to call them. But that is what I want on my bike. Now I just have to budget for it. Sweet.

IOV is the 'Isle of Vashon' meet put on by the 'Vintage Motorcycle Enthusiasts' every late summer.
I saw your GS1000 there last year....another beauty by the way! (at least I thought it was your bike)

If you can make your CB look as nice as that CB, I'll buy the celebration beers!
And just so this is not a total thread hijack, I think that Acewell guage is a nice choice. Good looking and not too expensive.Last edited by Guest; 01-13-2012, 10:39 AM.
