Awesome Mark, thanks! Sorry to halt your speedy progress on the project

But seriously, that is a lot better than I thought it would be and I reckon that might work just nicely for what I want.

Did you get the 2853 or the 2853AB black one? I was thinking the basic 2853 would suit me fine and it's also quite a bit cheaper...

Pete, I have the 2853-BK at $200 (US$). There is an identical one but with a chrome outer case for maybe another $30. When I first unpacked it, it did look small, but once powered up the digital data stands out well and I believe it is a very usable, neat package. The instructions with respect to the speed sensor insatallation are minimal but their UK website has more info available that looks useful.

            Cool, thanks for the info!

These are the ones available here locally and I'm thinking the base 2853 should suit me nicely... don't need the black face for an extra $85...

              Here, let me help:
"baby it will be sooo much safer if I know my real speed"

"think of the money from speeding tickets it could save us"

              Or the emotional blackmail route
              ".....if you really loved me....."

              Hope this helps

Hahahahaa I at least know this much... I'm sure both of those will have the same result... not convinced it's the desired result though

My guess is it will depend on the Valentine's Day present...

On an unrelated-to-gauge-clusters note, what handlebars are those? I'm guessing the "European" style bars?

I think the bars were either Daytona or Superbike but I can't remember for sure.

This is what I ended up with and I love it:

Not too expensive. I think Dime City Cycles have them in the US - I bought mine from Modern Motorcycles in Australia. The speedo has oil, indicator, neutral and hi-beam lights in it.

                      Also check out Motogadget

Who have some VERY cool stuff.

I really like the look and the functions seem to be there but the price is stupid!

Yeah that's why I didn't buy it! I got the two clocks for way less than one Motogadget cost. And in the end I like the look of the two clocks on my bike and my speedo has little pictographs for the idiot lights where the motogadget just has LEDs.

Ok, so I expect Paul's going to want this thread updated once my Acewell gets installed this Saturday, and I got one of these:

7th Day... how did you connect the tacho on yours? The diagram shows coil + or the spark plug lead, but the GS ignition system uses coil - to turn the coil on and off and it would be much neater to drive it from there rather than wrap it around the plug lead.

Paul, thought I'd pop this in here to get the thread surfaced again so I can share how it goes on Saturday

I'm pretty sure I connected to the coil primary lead. Would go check for you but I don't have the bike anymore.
