My '79 750L had a fuel gauge and axle in front of the fork legs. It has less offset in the triple clamps than my '78 which has the axle on line with the fork legs.

Your tank, side covers, and seat, look like what my '78 E model had. Here's the '79 L before she got cut up. Far as I know only the handle bars are different than stock in this photo(besides the rusty mounting tab and cork gas cap covered in plastic from the PO).

Actually 2 pics in his post, Chuck. The lower one shows the RHS rotor... and it is in fact backward. Maybe refresh your screen, as you probably ain't getting the second pic.

Or buy a better monitor, I'm looking at this on my iPhone and can clearly see the cooling holes. Though they looks to be round, as though they weren't there from the factory....

Geez chuck. You ride around on a motorcycle with those eyeballs?

Definitely not the standard Suzuki hole pattern.

I have a 79 L and while checking for differences found the frame and triple clamps are the same as a E models

It shouldn't be if you compare with the '79 750E. The '80 had leading axle forks, so the triple clamps should be about the same.

Check the part numbers in basscliffs scanned parts lists. If you think about it a manufacturer when producing a limited version of an existing model they are going to change as few parts as possible .The main non cosmetic changes seem to be 17" rear and lengthened front forks necessitating a leading axle to reduce trail back to an acceptable amount.Maybe they did change more things with the 1980 model.A quick part # comparison will tell.
Have been keeping an eye out for tank, seat, rear mudguard ,front forks,18" rear etc. to maybe change it to gs 750 e spec.I know of a complete and original gs1000 sitting in a shed not far away which may be a donor candidate depending on parts interchangeability.
