shortened rear fender
When I picked up my GS750 this winter, I liked everything about it except that the rear fender went down really low and made that rear taillight stick out like a sore thumb. I wish I would have taken before pics, but I'm sure a stock one is easy enough to find. I just rotated the fender back to shorten it and drilled a couple new holes. Much nicer I think!! It's a very subtle change but I like it.Tags: None

I should take pictures of mine when my tail light gets here, same thing, shortened the fender even a little more than yours, but removed that but ugly alien spacecraft of a taillight, way too large.

I agree. I didn't wanna get a new light until I knew that my bike was going to run good. yeah I can't stand it. It looks better now that the fender is shortened a bit though. There was a nice retro looking on on ebay though that I was thinking of checking out.

Edgegrip. I have a 1980 gs750L. The fender I have is still stock, just rotated back to make it shorter. I guess I'm not sure if it would or not. You'd have to check oem suzuki part website and compare part #'s. It seem that I've seen other models with shorter fenders too, but I wasn't sure if they were modified like mine or not.

Oldskool.........when you get those mounted, post some pictures. I wouldn't mind. I was going to go with those shorter turn signals too, but I wasn't sure if they would be too short or not. I constantly find myself bumping my rear ones.

Might be a week or so, I haven't got them yet, but I'll post pics, and my fender is rotated where the first hole was, the second hole is now using, makes it look sweet, almost flat, would probably even look better painted, but haven't brought myself to do it yet, I think I'll leave it chrome a while and see if it grows on me, otherwise, paint the rear and front, and thinking about cutting the front down a little also. I still have a lot of work to do yet, I was out doing a lot of wire repairs today, installing a new solenoid, adding grounds, also ordered a pack of relays, going to do every relay mod known to these bikes, also waiting for my cbr1000rr regulator rectifier to come in the mail too, a 40amp unit. I've got till about the end of the month to have it drivable.

Dunno if you're interested in a lowly 450...
But here's what I did, chopped as low as I could while still accommodating a Lucas style tail light. Also got some much, much, much smaller and cleaner turn signals.
Don't mind the crumby cell pictures, I could probably take some better ones if there's an interest.

That 450 looks great!
Would any of you guys be willing to photograph your fender mod? I'd like to do the same thing on my 1000GL. I was planning on getting a lucas-style light, and I don't think It'll look quite right without shortening the fender.
Thanks!

I just got my tires in and awaiting for my honda RR to come in, after I install the RR and tire, I'll be mounting the fender, then I'll only be just waiting for the tail light(but I'll take pics before it come in). Give me a few days, and I'll have mine done, and I'll take a lot of pics.
No later than next week sometime, and mines a 1100GL, so should be a good comparison.

I don't have any pictures of how I did it but its fairly straight forward. I just cut straight across the back side of the fender and drilled new holes to line up with the stock mounting ones.
Of course, new holes for the tail light as well, which came with a rubber mounting gasket that makes it look as if it was meant to be there.
