Thanks. That looks great on the wheels. I'm polishing my caliper and spraying it with a translucent gold tint laquer from G.J. Nikolas. They have been doing this for a 100 yrs. or so and have some great protective laquers for non ferrous metals. I've used a lot of their clear on the bronze hardware on my sailboat. But I like what you did with the wheels better.

Petroleum jelly is what I use for stuff like that, works just as good.
I used a green scotchbrite pad with some blue magic metal polish on the lips, and painted my spokes satin black. Came out nice, not going for show, just clean. The back wheel is what the front looked like before.

Why WASTE time/effort taping and scraping?
Paint doesn't stick to oil.
The wheel looks great by the way.
